About the boat

Why did you choose to buy a Sabre?
For its handling, looks, durability, and quality of craftsmanship.

What other kinds of boats did you consider before buying this particular model (and how did they compare)?
We looked at close to 20 boats, including C&C, Bristol, and Tarten. The Sabre 34MKI Targa (aft cabin & head) was the most comfortable, both below and on deck, and was in the best condition of all the yachts we viewed.

How did you come to find/locate her before purchasing (and what’s the boat’s history if you know it)?
We worked with Paul Chasse at Sailboats Northeast We are the 3rd owner. We purchased her from a man in Harpswell, ME, who purchased the boat from a man in New Port, RI. Her original color was blue, the 2nd owner changed the color to dark green.

What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
We’ve added a new main and jib, windless, and winches. All else is in excellent condition.

What are the features you like most about your boat?
Handling ability, below deck finishes, and roominess with the aft head.

Who first introduced you to boating/sailing?
My parents on Lake Waccabuc, Waccabuc, NY, sailing Sunfish.

Do you belong to a yacht club or other boating/sailing organizations?
We are members of the Corinthian Yacht Club, Marblehead, MA

What boats have you previously owned?
We’ve owned and Eastern 18 Center Console, Aqua sport, and have a Boston Whaler.

How do you typically use your boat over the summer, and where do you go?
Weekend sailing and Wednesday Night and pursuit races.

What is the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
None, really, as she is serviced by Cloutman Marine and Marblehead Trading Company.

Do you have any notable boating resources you use?
Just wind apps, Navionics.

Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a Sabre like yours?
Be patient, the good ones are hard to find.

What’s the story behind the boat’s name?
She’s named after the Bob Dylan song, “Forever Young” which he wrote for his son.
