About the Boat
Why did you choose to buy this particular boat and what else did you consider?
At that point in life, I would have taken anything to get back on the water. This boat had all the classic lines I love.
It’s also a Ketch rig, which I am a huge fan of.
What boats have you previously owned?
1969 20’ Joet Sherriff
1974 24’ Windrose
1985 20’ Nimble
1987 30’ US Yachts
What are the features you like most about your boat?
The cockpit layout is fantastic. I can travel with about 10 people comfortably.
The sail configuration is also spectacular. For a boat that big you would not expect her to be able to cut up into the wind as she does.
What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
I replaced the wooden Bowsprit with a stainless steel one.
Where have you traveled with your boat?/what do you have planned?
Just inside Lake Pontchartrain so far. But I plan to see the Gulf this Year.
Where did you buy/locate this boat?
Do you belong to a yacht club/marina or other boating organizations?
No I do not. My marina is planning to start a club and I have been nominated for office.
What is the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
Going aloft. It’s a tall rig.
Who first introduced you to boating?
My Uncle Jim Burke when I was near 8 years old.
Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a boat like yours?
Don’t look back. Sail every day you can.
What’s the story behind the boat’s name?
I am afraid to change it.
Any recent boating-related purchase you’ve been enjoying (e.g. product/tool/equipment etc)?
I like to replace a lot or hard pieces with dynamo. AIS is cool too.
Do you have any other notable resources you use (apps, devices, etc)?
